Useful Phrases for TOEIC Speaking Part 4

🔸 Referring to the Visual

  • “According to the [schedule/chart/announcement], …”
  • “Based on the information provided, …”
  • “From the [notice/schedule], we can see that…”

Example: 

  • According to the schedule, the keynote speech starts at 9:00 a.m.”
  • Based on the information provided, the event lasts for three days.”
  • From the notice, we can see that lunch will be provided at 12:30 p.m.”

🔸 Giving Time & Date Information

  • “It starts at [2:00 p.m.].”
  • “It will begin at [9 a.m.] and end at [3 p.m.].”
  • “The [meeting/concert] takes place on [Friday, May 5th].”
  • “It’s scheduled for [this Saturday].”

🔸 Talking About Location

  • “It will be held in [Room 302 / the main hall].”
  • “The event is located at [the City Convention Center].”
  • “It takes place on the [second floor / in the East Wing].”

🔸 Talking About Activities or Events

  • “The event includes [a guest speech / a lunch break / a product demonstration].”
  • “There is a session about [marketing strategies] at [2:30 p.m.].”

🔸 Giving Specific Details

Present Simple Tense

Used for scheduled events and facts:

  • “The workshop begins at 10 a.m.”
  • “Lunch is served at noon.”

Prepositions of Time

  • at + clock times → at 2 p.m.
  • on + specific days/dates → on Monday / on June 3rd
  • from… to…from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Example:

  • “The meeting begins at 8:00 a.m.”
  • “It’s happening on Wednesday, April 20th.”
  • “The workshop runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.”

 

Prepositions of Place

  • inin Room 2A / in the conference room
  • atat the hotel / at the City Hall
  • onon the second floor

Example:

  •  “The seminar is in Room B on the third floor.”
  • “The event will be held at the City Convention Center.”
  •  “The registration desk is on the left side of the entrance.”

Future Forms (for emphasis, though simple present is more common)

  • “The event will start at 10 a.m.” (acceptable, especially in spoken answers)
