Practicing reading is one of the most effective ways that can help you accumulate new vocabulary and structures. So why can reading more help you write better? Can you imagine, whether it's English or Vietnamese, can you write an emotional essay or a persuasive essay if you don't have any knowledge or understanding about that topic? The answer is "no". Therefore, reading sources close to the test is essential to improve your IELTS Writing skills. You may realize that the topics that often appear in IELTS Writing task 2 are often extremely related to the topics of Passage Reading.

Besides the readings in the Reading section, there are many other quality reading sources that you can refer to. Below are some English reading resources you can use to improve your Writing skills:

The interface is simple and easy to use and has a variety of topics so it can be suitable for all ages. The articles are quite easy to understand and interesting, such as “What's the Best Way to Stop a Nosebleed? - What is the best way to stop nosebleeds?

+ BBC Learning English: The YouTube channel is so popular with many English learners. You can watch videos about 6 minutes long to listen and read along with the subtitles below. If there is vocabulary or phrases that you only vaguely remember the meaning of and are not sure how to use correctly, you absolutely should not include them in your article. Especially with words or phrases that you think are close in meaning, but when used interchangeably, they are not really suitable.

It's better to use a simpler word but you understand the correct meaning than a word you're not sure about because it can make your writing have the wrong meaning and this error will definitely result in a lot of points being deducted. Practicing using the right words is also an effective way to improve IELTS writing skills that you should remember!

An example to make it easier for you to imagine: "Last year I went to Paris on holiday because I wanted to visit the Eiffel Tower. I spent the whole month of June there with my boyfriend, and we bought a lot of presents for our friends". (Last year, I went to Paris because I wanted to see the Eiffel Tower. Outlining is always an extremely important step for IELTS Writing. Outlining the main ideas that will be deployed in the article will help you write smoothly and without missing ideas. When you have an outline, you will also have a more general view of the structure of the article and choose ideas to present accurately. You should practice the habit of outlining daily lessons when practicing at home so that you can increase your writing speed when taking the real exam. Try to practice reading a lot and don't forget to take note of phrases, idioms and interesting structures and expressions to use in your writing!
