A Leading Field in Tourism and Hospitality Training

In a city with a leading tourism development potential like Da Nang, training high-quality tourism human resources plays a particularly important role.

From its inception, Duy Tan University has identified Tourism and Hospitality training as its leading field alongside many other disciplines.

Strong international cooperation over the years has played a pioneering role in building strengths in Tourism and Hospitality training at DTU. The agreement signed between Duy Tan University (DTU) and Pennsylvania State University (Penn State) – consistently ranked among the Top 50 Business and Economics schools in the US (according to U.S. News) and one of the top 5 tourism schools in the world (according to UN Tourism) – established prestigious PSU-standard programs at DTU in:

- Hospitality and Tourism

- Travel and Tourism

- Restaurant Management.

These programs serve as a foundation, contributing to the advancement of the Tourism, Hospitality, and Restaurant Management fields at Duy Tan University, and simultaneously increasing the number of tourism students at DTU from several hundred to several thousand, a growth rate maintained over many years.

As the Dean of the Faculty of Tourism during its initial breakthrough period from 2010 to 2015, Dr. Nguyen Cong Minh (currently the Head of the Postgraduate Department at Duy Tan University) made pivotal contributions to international cooperation.

Dr. Minh continues to contribute significantly to scientific research in Tourism and Hospitality, and represents Duy Tan University as Vietnam's representative in the Association for Tourism Education (APacCHRIE).

Mr. Minh stated: "International cooperation is a key factor in improving the quality of tourism training, broadening horizons, and approaching advanced global educational standards.

Through advanced programs and collaborations, academic exchanges, and partnerships with global universities and businesses, Duy Tan University has gradually affirmed its position, nurtured high-quality, skilled human resources, and promoted the spirit of integration.

The effectiveness of this strategy has contributed to Duy Tan University's tourism industry rising to the Top 50 in the world (ranked 41st in the world according to QS).

This is not only a mark of ranking, but also proof of the university's continuous training, research, and innovation capabilities through Vietnam's increasingly profound contributions to the global tourism sector."

Tourism training at Duy Tan University after 2015 continues to affirm and enhance its international recognition with a spirit of integration and sustainable development, with the participation of Professor Dr. Professor Lim Sang Taek (South Korea) is the Dean of the Hospitality & Tourism Institute (HTi), upgraded from the Faculty of Tourism at DTU.

Professor Lim was formerly the President of the Asia Pacific Tourism Association (APTA). Professor Lim's efforts, along with those of the staff, lecturers, and students of HTi, led Duy Tan University to become the first university in Vietnam to achieve UNWTO TedQual accreditation for tourism in 2022.

Most recently, two programs, International Hotel Management and International Restaurant Management, once again achieved UN Tourism TedQual accreditation (previously known as UNWTO.TedQual) on December 29, 2025, scoring 789/845 points, satisfying 93% of all criteria (higher than the first accreditation on July 8, 2022, which scored 771/845 points, satisfying 91.2% of all criteria).

This UN Tourism TedQual accreditation for Duy Tan University is valid for three years, from December 2025 to December 2028, which is also the longest possible accreditation period.

The UN Tourism TedQual accreditation is clear evidence of Duy Tan University's strong commitment to continuously improving its training programs and updating them to meet the practical needs of the tourism and service industry in the context of global integration.

Professor Lim Sang Taek, currently the Head of the International Training Faculty at DTU, who has always been involved in tourism training at Duy Tan University, shared: "The process of internationalization and accreditation of training programs according to international standards is an important and correct direction for HTI.

This effective strategic development direction has created a competitive advantage, helping students in tourism and hospitality majors access new knowledge, improve practical skills, and expand job opportunities upon graduation.

Always placing students at the center, Duy Tan University continuously strives to bring the best values to the development of its learners."
