DTU Hosts 2nd Annual Student Research Conference for Economics and Social Sciences Cluster
On the morning of May 15, 2025, the 2nd Annual Student Research Conference for the Economics and Social Sciences Cluster was successfully held at Duy Tan University. The event aimed to review and evaluate student research activities while also creating an intellectual platform to ignite passion for inquiry, creativity, and knowledge discovery among DTU students.
A professional academic council for the Economics – Social Sciences cluster was established to conduct the preliminary evaluation of over 50 research papers submitted by various academic units. From these, the 14 highest-quality projects were selected and edited for publication in the 2025 Student Research Proceedings of the Economics and Social Sciences Cluster.
In the second round, the academic board selected the top six most outstanding projects to present and compete in the final round of the conference. These research topics stood out for their practical relevance, appropriate research methodology, solid data, and convincing results.
Thanks to their thorough preparation, academic integrity, and outstanding efforts, the student team from the Faculty of English – School of Language and Social Sciences (LHSS) secured the Third Prize in the final round. This achievement is a testament to the Faculty’s investment in student research, as well as the creativity, responsibility, and academic courage of a new generation of students.
The awarded project, titled "Linguistic Features in English and Vietnamese Rap Lyrics", was carried out by two students, Nguyễn Lê Yến Trâm and Trần Thị Mỹ Linh from class K28NAB1, under the dedicated guidance of Ms. Phan Thị Thủy Tiên (MA).
Mỹ Linh shared: “At first, we were a bit worried since this topic is rarely explored in academic settings. However, the deeper we went, the more we appreciated the richness, creativity, and hidden artistic value in each rap verse. The process of collecting, analyzing, and interpreting the linguistic features of rap not only expanded our knowledge but also honed our critical thinking and ability to connect language with culture and society.”
Yến Trâm added: “There were times when we felt discouraged, but thanks to the dedicated support of our instructor and encouragement from friends, we managed to complete the research and confidently present our findings. We are honored to receive the Third Prize at this conference. This recognition motivates us to continue learning and striving in the future.”
The judging panel praised the project not only for its contemporary relevance but also for its ability to link academic knowledge with real-world phenomena, reflecting the group’s independent thinking and keen observational skills.
It is hoped that more innovative and practical research topics like this will continue to emerge, further affirming the academic strength and training quality of LHSS, while spreading the spirit of scientific research throughout the DTU student community.
