Participating in the student exchange program at Yeungnam University in South Korea, Duy Tan University students Dang Thi Thuy Ngoc and Nguyen Thi Thanh Hai from the English Department of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities achieved remarkable successes in the land of Kimchi. Their study period in South Korea spans from August 27, 2023, to August 27, 2024, and they are among three Duy Tan University students selected for this exchange program.

Yeungnam University, in its quest to foster future generations with innovative ideas and positive energy to contribute to societal development, initiated a content and video creation contest themed “Dream of becoming a Global Leader with Yeungnam University.” Fueled by the passion of Gen Z, Thuy Ngoc crafted a standout entry that won the Impression Award, while Thanh Hai excelled, securing second place overall.

From late April 2024 to May 19, 2024, Yeungnam University held another contest titled “Reminisce on your moments at Yeungnam University.” This period coincided with the students' final exams and the conclusion of their exchange program. The contest aimed to reflect on the memories of international students during their time at the university, experiencing life, learning, and immersing themselves in South Korea’s beautiful and rich cultural heritage. Thuy Ngoc and Thanh Hai both triumphed over numerous competitors to win first place.

Thuy Ngoc: The Enthusiastic Volunteer

A highly active student, Thuy Ngoc has participated in numerous activities throughout her time at Duy Tan University. She served as the chairperson of the Hti’s Volunteer Club, was among the Top 100 Outstanding Volunteer Leaders honored at the "Youth Contribution to the Community" ceremony in 2023, and acted as a Communications Ambassador for AIESEC. Known for her dedication to volunteer programs and youth activities such as "Warm Winter in the Highlands" and "Mid-Autumn Festival for Children," Thuy Ngoc has left a significant mark.

Thuy Ngoc shared: "Being selected to go to Korea was a dream I never thought I could achieve, so when I got the chance to be an exchange student here for a year, I cherished every moment. Studying, playing, and experiencing a new culture, meeting friends from around the world – it’s a foundational opportunity for my future development. Especially as a language major, learning a new language and enhancing my English daily has been invaluable. Moreover, I've developed independence and resilience in this foreign environment, far from my family."

Reflecting on her time in Korea, Thuy Ngoc expressed gratitude: "During my time in Korea, I received enthusiastic support and supervision from Duy Tan University and the English Department. Workshops between Duy Tan and Singaporean students further fueled my passion for participating in international programs. Thanh Hai: The Language Enthusiast

Thanh Hai, passionate about learning foreign languages, is proficient in English, Chinese, and currently learning Korean. Driven by the desire to enhance her language skills, Thanh Hai eagerly participates in competitions, programs, and cultural exchanges with international students. She has previously joined the “Chinese Bridge” program, organized by universities in China to promote cultural and language exchange among international students.

Thanh Hai revealed: "Since childhood, I dreamed of studying in Korea. After high school, I pursued an English Language major at Duy Tan University, but destiny brought me back to Korea through this exchange program. Being an exchange student at Yeungnam University is truly an enriching and memorable experience. It’s not just about expanding my knowledge but also a journey of self-discovery, experiencing diverse cultures, and building unforgettable student memories."
