Dr. Architect Le Vinh An with his career in preserving and restoring Vietnamese architectural heritage
Dr. Architect Le Vinh An - Director of the Vietnam - Japan Institute of Engineering and Technology (VJIET), and Chairman of the Scientific Council of the Faculty of Architecture of Duy Tan University (University) has more than 30 years of practice and research. in the field of conservation and restoration of Vietnamese architectural heritage.
Many studies with high applicable value published in international journals under the Scopus/ISI Q1 list by Dr. Architect An have brought new and practical perspectives to young architects as well as those who share the same passion for researching, preserving, and restoring architectural heritage to preserve the good traditional values of the nation. Recently, Dr. An was also honored to receive the 2023 Golden Pen award from Architecture Magazine and the Vietnam Association of Architects.
Dr. Architect Le Vinh An began his career in preserving cultural heritage when he was still a university student. His research fields are quite diverse, including: urban heritage, architectural heritage, Preserving, restoring and reconstructing architectural heritage works.
In 2009, he successfully defended his PhD thesis on research on the reconstruction of Can Chanh Palace, the most important palace of the Hue Imperial Citadel that collapsed in 1947, and received a PhD in science & engineering. in History of Architectural Technology at Waseda University, Japan.
In 2013, he and his colleagues carried out the project "Application of Realtime-Rendering Technology to recreate Thieu Phuong Garden in the Imperial Citadel of Hue", this is the royal garden of the Nguyen Dynasty that was destroyed by the war. The project was successfully reconstructed and was awarded first prize in the Science and Technology Innovation Contest of Thua Thien - Hue province.
Then in 2018, he and his colleagues developed a method for teaching architectural design projects Design Planning for Architecture students based on the application of the CDIO (Conceive - Forming ideas, Design) training methodology. - Design ideas; Implement - Operate - Operate). This method was chosen by the Vietnam Association of Architects and 40 architect training establishments nationwide to award the first prize at the "Best method of teaching architectural projects" contest.
Up to now he has published many articles on the field of conservation and reconstruction of architectural heritage in international magazines and in the magazine of the Vietnam Association of Architects, making a useful contribution to the cause of heritage conservation. ethnic architecture.
With those important contributions, Dr. An was awarded the title "Golden Pen" by the Vietnam Association of Architects in 2023, and PTIMUM organization invited to present the keynote at the conference "International Conference on Innovation in Civli, Structural and Environmental Engineering - CIVILENG 2024" in Rome, Italy in October 2024.
